The grounds

30 wooded acres of quiet

The retreat sits in the hills above Chautauqua Lake, at the end of a quiet road in Bemus Point. Trails wind through the hardwoods, the archery range waits in the leaves, and the fire pit is the center of gravity on most evenings.

Veterans come out for a hunt, a wellness day, or a slow afternoon with nothing planned at all. However you use it, the land does a lot of the work.

  • Walking trails through the hardwoods
  • An archery range tucked into the trees
  • The fire pit and benches out front
  • A hot tub and dry sauna for the cold months
  • Open ground for potlucks and long tables
  • Deer wandering past at dusk

Stay awhile

Inside Paradise Lodge

Three bedrooms, two baths, a full kitchen, and a stone fireplace that runs half the year. The first floor is accessible, with a full bath and parking right at the door. Veterans and their families stay free, always.

The lodge is the heart of the property. Coffee mornings happen at its tables, winter wellness days fill its sauna and hot tub, and families settle in for whole weekends in the woods.

Part of something bigger

The retreat is where it happens. The mission is why.

Healing For Heroes is more than one property. It is hunts and luncheons, wellness days and bowling nights, and a community of neighbors who keep all of it free for veterans.
